Committed To Kindness
Bend Family Friends started as a shared idea between co-founders Lisa McCormick and Gunnar Peterson. With over 35 years of experience in providing in-home supports to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, we knew that there needed to be better 24-hour residential care options for the folks that we support, so we set out to do something about it. Our sole focus is to provide the best services possible to a vastly underserved part of our community. We believe that dignity, respect, and empathy go a long way in helping our BFFs foster value and purpose within themselves and in their communities.
Mission Statement
At Bend Family Friends, our mission is to provide compassionate and nurturing homes for intellectually and developmentally disabled individuals, empowering them to lead fulfilling lives with dignity and purpose. We are committed to creating a supportive and inclusive environment that fosters growth, independence, and a sense of inclusivity for each resident.
We believe in treating every individual with empathy, respect, and unconditional acceptance. Our team of dedicated caregivers is committed to understanding the unique needs and preferences of each resident, ensuring they receive personalized care that honors their individuality.
We strive to empower our residents to reach their full potential by encouraging self-expression, autonomy, and active participation in decision-making. Through personalized support plans, we provide opportunities for skill-building, education, and personal growth.
We celebrate diversity and create an inclusive community where all residents feel valued and embraced. We do our best to promote a culture that appreciates the richness of each individual's background, experiences, and abilities.
We will never be family to the people that we support, but we see ourselves as family friends. We understand the importance of family and loved ones in the lives of our residents and we actively involve our residents' families in the care planning process and encourage open communication and collaboration to ensure the best possible outcomes for each individual.
We’re passionate about continually growing and improving how we support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Through ongoing research, regular staff training, and staying current with the latest advancements in care and therapies, we’re always learning and finding better ways to serve.
